President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo are expected to celebrate the Independence Day together on June 12.
This was confirmed by Rene Escalante, director of the National Historic Commission of the Philippines, during the press briefing in Malacañang on Thursday.
According to Escalante, both the President and the Vice President will be attending the flag-raising and wreath laying activities at the Jose Rizal Monument in Luneta Park.
Meanwhile, Escalante confirmed that roads in Manila will be closed for the parades and cultural shows.
The Metro Rail Transit System (MRT) and Light Rail Transit System (LRT) will be having free rides this June 12.
Senator Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson, Sen. Juan ‘Sonny’ Angara, and Sen. Loren Legarda will lead the independence day events in some provinces.
