A cadet at the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) reportedly died on Wednesday after collapsing during a training exercise at Camp General Mariano N. Castañeda in Silang, Cavite.

The victim was identified as Al-Rasheed Pendatun Macadato, 21-year-old fourth class cadet collapsed during a run on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 14 and was brought to Qualimed Hospital in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. He was only 10 days into the summer training program.

Macadato passed away on Wednesday, May 15. Meanwhile, the attending physician of the victim pointed out hazing as the cause of death.

However, PNPA stands firm in their statement that Macadato underwent the same training program used in previous years and the hot weather intensely affects new cadets that’s why they always advise drinking plenty of water.

Macadato’s remains were brought early Thursday to his hometown in Kalilangan, Bukidnon.
