PNP didn’t violate existing ceasefire

Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin

The Philippine National Police didn’t violate the existing ceasefire agreement between the government and the MILF when they conducted an operation in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.

This was insisted by the PNP against the comment of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front that the PNP didn’t coordinate with them regarding the said operation.

According to Pol. Dir. Getulio Napenas, director of the PNP Special Action Force, the MILF knew that the military will enter Mamasapano to serve the arrest warrant against two members of the Jemaah Islamiyah.

Napenas also confirmed that some members of the SAF that died during the said encounter were beheaded and slashed.

The PNP official was on his way to Central Mindanao and OIC-PNP Leonardo Espina, DILG Mar Roxas, Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin and AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang will follow after.
