The Philippine National Police continues to cleanse its ranks from scalawags.
PNP Chief PDG Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa said that since assuming his post, he has signed 352 dismissal orders.
167 of these police scalawags are involved in illegal drugs, while 72 are Away on Leave, 57 are implicated in Estafa charges, 22 are connected to murder, and 15 are embroiled in robbery – extortion cases.
There are also 329 pending dismissal since the process of removing them from service is still being finished.
Among the dismissed officers by Dela Rosa, the highest rank is a police superintendent or lieutenant colonel since police with a level of senior superintendent and generals need a dismissal order from the Office of the President.
Meanwhile, the PNP will also be implementing a one-strike policy for police chiefs, whose personnel are implicated in illegal drugs.
Department of Interior and Local Government Officer-in-Charge Eduardo Año further explained that, under the said policy, provincial directors will be dismissed if two or more of their personnel were removed from service, while a regional director will be removed if two or more police directors were dismissed.
