Due to the dismissal of the cases against self-confessed drug-lord Kerwin Espinosa and suspected drug-lord Peter Lim, President Rodrigo Duterte will intervene on the illegal drug cases held by the Department of Justice.
According to PDG Ronald Dela Rosa, chief of the Philippine National Police, the President promised to use his power to review the resolution of drug cases coming from the DOJ.
Dela Rosa explained that the President has doubts due to the series of large cases of illegal drugs that were dismissed by the DOJ.
Other than the case of Espinosa and Lim, the PNP also monitored that charges against personalities involved at the illegal drugs laboratory in Virac, Catanduanes were also dismissed.
The suspects implicated at the mega drugs laboratory in Virac include Atty. Augusto Isidro, regional director for the National Bureau of Investigation; former Caramoan, Camarines Sur Mayor Constantino Cordial Jr., and the children of former Catanduanes Gov. Cely Wong: Jardin Brian Wong, alias Bobing Wong, and Joseph Al Randie Wong, alias Tiptip Wong.
Based on a resolution last December 20, 2017, the DOJ dismissed the charges against Espinos, Lim, and other drug personalities due to the weak evidence presented by the PNP – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
