The Philippine National Police (PNP) expressed their plan to help the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) in taking care of the massive traffic problem in the Metro.

This is one of the direct orders of newly appointed Philippine National Police Chief Dir.Gen. Ricardo Marquez to the officials of the National Capital Region Police Police as they coordinate with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

The PNP Chief wants to focus on areas with severe gridlock in traffic.

Marquez believes that the problem in traffic is one of the factors why we experience high crime rate in some parts of the Metro.

Criminals take advantage of crowded areas due to traffic congestion.

The new PNP Chief mentioned the Pasay-Rotonda area where traffic is so severe, the whole block seemed like a parking lot.  Crimes continue to exist in this area as well.   (With Cyrille Shaine Cupino)
