President Benigno Aquino III expressed his dismay over the news that the Indonesian government is pushing through with Mary Jane Veloso’s execution by firing squad on Tuesday afternoon.

President Joko Widodo junked the petition of PNOY to review Veloso’s case anew.  Based on reports, Veloso is just a victim of a big-time drug syndicate.

However, the President isn’t losing any hope as he continues to appeal to the Indonesian government and even proposes to turn Veloso into a state witness, just to spare her of the death penalty.

During a presscon with the media in Malaysia, President Aquino said that they are waiting for any word that will come from the Foreign Ministry of Indonesia regarding his latest proposal.

PNOY also confirmed that Widodo already informed him that the Supreme Court turned down the second juidicial appeal regarding Mary Jane’s case.

In line with this, PNOY has tasked the Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia to make sure that the family of Mary Jane will receive the ample aid they will need, including the two children of the convicted OFW.

The Philippine government will strengthen its information campaign to make sure that no one will fall prey from illegal drug syndicates.
