President Benigno Aquino III allegedly was irked with the officials of the Department of Transportation and Communications amid the simultaneous glitches in the Mass Railways System.
According to some sources, President Aquino scolded DOTC Sec. Joseph Abaya to fix the MRT operations because the public is already disappointed with their futile service.
In line with this, Presidential Communications Operations Office Sec. Herminio Coloma Jr. said that he hasn’t receive any information regarding the President reprimanding Abaya over the MRT 3’s continuous problems.
However, Coloma knows that PNOY called on the DOTC Secretary regarding the frequent malfunctions of the MRT, which often brings irritation to passengers.
Secretary Coloma said that PNOY already ordered Sec. Abaya to focus on finding a solution to the problems of the MRT.
“Patuloy na pinatututukan ni Pangulong Aquino kay Sec. Jun Abaya ang pagpapahusay sa MRT 3, maintenance and operations, at ang iba pang mahahalagang proyekto ng DOTC.”
Meanwhile, Secretary Abaya said that he already submitted his status report to President Aquino regarding the on-going upgrade rehabilitation, repair and acquisition of additional coaches.
Some of the new coaches are scheduled to arrive in mid-August of this year.
Aside from this, Abaya also reported the update on the contract of the driver’s license, plates and public-private partnership projects. (with DZRH Florante Rosales)
