Mike Plania became the first Filipino boxer to return to the ring and win following the 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
Plania won via majority decision, 94-94, 96-92, 97-91, against American fighter Joshua Greer Jr. on Tuesday, June 16, at the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States of America.
The 23-year old boxer from General Santos City secured the victory after knocking down Greer twice; first in the opening round and second in the sixth round, with quick left hooks during the 10-round fight.
The professional record of Plania improved to 24 wins, 12 knockouts, and one loss after he put an end to the 19-fight winning streak of his 26-year old American opponent.
Greer, meanwhile, dropped to 22 wins, 12 knockouts, two losses, and one draw.
