Merwin Tan, a 19-year old member of the Philippine national team, seized the gold medal at the 20th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships on Saturday, April 20, in Sarawak, Malaysia.
Tan topped the Boy’s Singles Event after getting a total of 1,352 pin-falls in six games.
He bested William Clark of Australia, who finished second with a total of 1,334 pin-falls, and Park Sanghyeok of South Korea, who finished third with a total of 1,326 pin-falls.
This is not the first time that Tan won a medal for the Philippines since he was also a member of the national squad that finished third during the the boys’ team event of the 2018 World Youth Championship in Michigan, United States of America.
Aside from Tan, Kenzo Umali of the Philippines also made it to the top-10 of the Boy Single’s Event of biennial tournament after finishing with a total of 1,261 pin-falls
