PHL boxer confident vs. fight with Kazakhstan fighter

Philippine boxer Roldan Boncales Jr. is confident that he will be able to beat no.4 seed Olzhas Sattibayev of Kazakhstan in the continuing Asian-Oceanian Olympic Qualifying event in China.

The 23 year old boxer was able to beat Tran Von Thao of Vietnam during their Flyweight match on Sunday.

Boncales registered 30-27 points from the judges coming from Kazakhstan, Lithuania, and Belarus to win over the fighter from Vietnam.

Prior to this, Boncales fought in the Indonesian President’s Cup last April 2015 wherein he sustained a deep cut in the face from a head butt.

Meanwhile, female boxer Nesthy Petecio will be going up against Jennifer Chieng of Micronesia.
