Philippines, Japan, Indonesia to host 2023 FIBA World Cup

The Philippines, alongside Japan and Indonesia, will be hosting the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Chairman Emeritus Manny Pangilinan announced that the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has decided to give the hosting rights of the prestigious tournament to the Philippines – Japan – Indonesia group.

Meanwhile, the Argentina – Uruguay group grabbed the hosting rights for the 2027 FIBA World Cup.

Pangilinan has previously said that he wished for Basketball to make a mark in the Philippines before he leaves his post.

Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia were also given instant slots to the 2023 World Cup as hosts.

Half of the qualifying games and the knockout matches, which will start from the quarterfinals, will happen in the Philippines, while the other half of the qualifying games will be shared by Japan and Indonesia.
