The Philippine team in Chess has reason to celebrate after bringing home gold and bronze medals in the recently concluded 42nd World Chess Olympiad.
Eugene Torre won the bronze for the 3rd board. The 64-year old grandmaster finished the competition without losing to his opponents.
Meanwhile, Wesley So, the only Filipino who went up against the US team, got the gold in the said category.
This is not the first time that So won in the said competition. The Filipino grandmaster won silver in the 21st Chess Olympiad, making him the first Asian grandmaster.
