NPA ‘claims’ to attack Davao before SONA

The Philippine National Police claimed on Monday that the communist rebel group New People’s Army is planning to attack Davao city before President Rodrigo Duterte’s second State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 24.

Philippine National Police Chief Director-General Ronald Dela Rosa explained that they are not taking the treat lightly and will be making all precautionary measures as to preserve the presence of safety of the Davaoeño’s.

As the threat of the pre-SONA attack still hangs in the air, the PNP is doing a round the clock surveillance of the city to maintain peace and order. General Dela Rosa however clarified that as for the moment the intelligence unit sees no specific action to the terror threat.

General Dela Rosa also asked the public’s cooperation to notify the police of all known information about the threat so as to illuminate the risk as soon as possible.
