Philippines and United States (US) officially open their joint combat exercises for 2016.
The ceremony was held at the Headquarters of the Philippine Marines at Fort Andres Bonifacio in Taguig City amid the threat of President Rodrigo Duterte on the said war games to be the last one under his administration.
The activity, named as PHIBLEX 33 or Philippine Amphibious Landing Exercise, is being participated by almost 2, 000 troops from the two nations.
Around 1, 400 military personnel from the US are sent for the war games while 500 from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
The exercise aims to improve the preparedness of the two nations in responding to any crisis.
