PH logs 999 new COVID-19 infections, total cases now over 38K

The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported 999 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the Philippines to 38,511.

The health ministry also recorded total recoveries to 10,438 after 205 more patients recovered from the respiratory disease, while the death toll climbed to 1,270 with four new fatalities.

Of the said new infections, 175 are fresh cases and 131 are late cases.

Among the fresh cases, 175 are from Metro Manila, 134 are from Region VII, while the remaining 286 are spread out across the country. In the late cases, 131 are from Metro Manila, 57 are from Region VII, while the 216 other patients came from various areas nationwide.

The DOH also removed two duplicate cases from the total tally of infections.

On Tuesday night, President Rodrigo Duterte announced that Cebu City will remain under enhanced community quarantine while Metro Manila will stay under the general community quarantine until July 15.
