PH logs 1,531 new COVID-19 infections, highest single-day increase

The Philippines on Friday logged 1, 531 new infections — 688 were “fresh” cases and 843 were “late” cases— on Friday, bringing the total number of confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the country to 40,346.

This is the new highest single-day increase in new cases following June 23’s 1,150 figures.

Total recoveries climbed to 11,073 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported that 400 more patients recuperated from the respiratory illness. Meanwhile, the death toll also increased to 1,280 with 6 fatalities.

Among the 688 “fresh” new cases, 255 were from the National Capital Region (NCR), 138 were from Region 7, 271 from other regions, and 24 were from the repatriates.

Meanwhile, among the 843 “late” cases, test results that were released 4 days ago or more, 158 came from NCR, 163 from Region 7, 514 from others, and 8 from the repatriates.
