PH logs 1,494 new COVID-19 infections, total now at 41,830

The Philippines logged 1,494 new infections on Saturday, of which 403 are “fresh” or newly validated and 1,091 are late, bringing the total number of confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to 41,830.

The Department of Health said that total recoveries are now at 11,453 after 380 more patients recuperated from the respiratory illness while the death toll increased to 1,290 with 10 new fatalities.

Among the fresh cases, 180 are from the National Capital Region, 90 are from Region VII, and 133 are from other areas across the country.

Meanwhile, among the late cases, 499 are from the National Capital Region, 146 are from Region VII, 434 are from other areas across the country, and 12 are repatriates.

Earlier, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that the DOH will no longer break down cases into “fresh” and “late” starting next week.
