Politicians, listeners mourn the passing of ‘Manong’ Joe Taruc


Known personalities are expressing their grief and sadness for the passing of veteran broadcaster Dr. Jose Malgapo Taruc Jr., popularly known as Joe Taruc, at the age of 71.

Some of the senators that have already shown their sympathies include Sen. Loren Legarda, Sen. Sonny Angara, Sen. Richard Gordon, Sen. Joel Villanueva, and Sen. Joseph ‘JV’ Ejercito.

Sen. Angara in a statement, recognizes Taruc as an institution of the broadcast industry. Meanwhile, Sen. Poe hopes that the broadcaster will serve as an inspiration for other reporters since he prioritized the welfare of the masses.

Malacanang also expressed its sympathy on the death of a skilled broadcaster. The Armed Forces of the Philippines is also saddened by the passing of Sir Joe Taruc.

Jay Taruc confirmed the passing of his father during the morning of September 30, 2017.

The Taruc family has not yet released any details regarding the wake and burial of the broadcaster who is considered as one of the foundations of the Philippine radio industry.

The bereaved family also asked the public give them privacy as they spend their last moments with tgeir beloved father.

Joe Taruc is known for his newscasting and commentaries during his four decades in the radio industry. He has received numerous awards including the ‘Ka Doroy’ Broadcaster of the Year award during the 16th Golden Dove awards of The Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas.
