Members of the government peace panel are en route to Oslo, Norway to attend the peace talks between the government and the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front, happening on August 22.
Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista and Angeles City Mayor Ed Pamintuan are part of the government’s peace panel.
According to Bautista, Quezon City is one of the chosen local government unit’s representative in the peace talks because of the programs the city’s implementing concerning rebel returnees.
Last month, the Quezon City started its Rebel Returnees Integration Program, which aims to provide returning rebels their livelihood, housing, and scholarship programs for their kids.
Bautista is hoping that the peace talks in Norway will bear good results so that the country will be able to achieve peace in Mindanao.
