PDEA tells public: Do not vote for narco politicians

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency asked the public to no longer vote barangay officials and councilors that are involved in illegal drugs operations.

According to PDEA Chief Aaron Aquino, the said officials, which include 143 barangay chairmen and 146 conuncilors, do not deserve to be elected again and serve the government.

The PDEA head said that 289 barangay officials are included in the narco list of President Rodrigo Duterte andĀ fears that drug money will be used in the nearing barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (youth council) elections on May 14.

Meanwhile, C/Supt. John Bulalacao, spokesperson of the Philippine National Police, promised to monitor the candidates who will be supported by illegal drug syndicates in the upcoming 2018 elections.

Bulalacao pointed out that drug syndicates will only support candidates in exchange for protection.

The PNP official further added that they will most likely focus their anti-illegal drug operations against barangay official who support the trade of illegal substances.
