Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Dir. Gen. Aaron Aquino admits that narco-politicians could use illegal drug tests for their campaign in the upcoming 2019 elections.
According to Aquino, many narco-politicians have underwent drug testing in facilities not sanctioned by PDEA in order to parade their ‘negative’ results during the campaign period, and improve their reputation to the public.
“Marami ang gumawa ng ganun na magpapa-drug test kunwari at hindi naman sanctioned ng PDEA at saka ng drug lab basta kung saan-saan na lang magpapa-drug test and then eventually gagawin niya sa campaign period na negative siya,” Aquino said during DZRH’s
The PDEA chief added that protectors and pushers of illegal drugs don’t often use contraband substance, and this will show in the results of their drug tests.
“Negative talaga ang use pero they are involved in illegal drugs, ” Aquino added.
Aquino has previously proposed conducting un-announced drug tests to election candidates.
The PDEA director general explained that conducting surprise drug tests to politicians running in the elections in order to prevent them from manipulating the results by not in-taking illegal substances beforehand.
However, PDEA has yet to decide on the method on how to conduct the drug testing to politicians.
