The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) closely monitors the situation of the 19 Filipino crewmembers onboard tugboat Clyde and M/V Claudia.

Commodore Armand Balilo, spokesperson of the PCG, confirmed that the two vessels, which came from Indonesia, arrived at the Lidong Port in Santo Domingo, Albay at around 7:20AM on Tuesday, July 21.

Balilo said that the crew will have to remain inside the two vessels after 12 of them tested positive for the 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) when they arrived at Butuan City, Agusan del Norte on Thursday, July 14.

Nag-deploy na tayo ng ating maritime security team na may kasamang medical doctors para ma-secure natin na hindi sila makakababa at wala rin makakapunta doon sa vicinity,” Balilo said on Tuesday during DZRH’s Damdaming Bayan.

Balilo assured that the crewmembers have constant communication with the health workers on the ground.

Ang importante dito matugunan natin yung pangangailangan nila, mapalakas yung kanilang resistensya, tapos, later on, sana mag-negative. Puro asymptomatic naman sila,” he added.

Tugboat Clyde and M/V Claudia carries 8,000 metric tons of steam coal from Indonesia.
