Pasig River Ferry Service is up for possible privatization for the betterment of the public’s commute.
This was the proposed plan of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Danny Lim on a hearing with the Committee on Transportation in the House of Representatives.
Lim said that the river’s foul odor has led some commuters to seek better modes of transportation.
The pricey maintenance of the ferry service also plays a vital role due to the constant cleaning and removal of water hyacinths which clogs the flow of the water during the rainy season.
The Pasig River Ferry has opened 12 stations to commuters who wish to avoid traffic congestion through Manila, Mandaluyong, Makati, and Pasig.
