The 2019 Aliwan Fiesta kicked off on Thursday, April 26, with performances from various groups during the Pasakalye night in front of The Aliw Theater in Pasay City.
Filipino indie pop band Ben&Ben started the night by serenading the audience with their hit songs including Maybe the Night and Kathang Isip. They made the night more memorable by introducing their new song Pagtingin to the delight of their fans.
The girls of Extreme Lab then continued to provide entertainment thru their dance numbers. Three lucky men even had the chance to dance with the girls on stage and even one of them received a kiss from one of the dancers.
The crowd started to go wild when This Band went up the stage and performed a new song, which has yet to be publicly released. They also sang their popular tracks like Tampisaw, Hindi Na Nga, and Kahit Ayaw Mo Na.
The band juan karlos put an end to the first night of the 2019 Festival of Festivals by singing their crowd-favorite song Buwan.
During intermission breaks between performances, disc jockeys (DJs) from the Manila Broadcasting Company’s FM stations Yes the Best, Love Radio, and Easy Best held games in which winners received cash prizes and gift packs. They also gave away shirts and caps to the audience.
Candidates of the 2019 Reyna ng Aliwan also graced the Pasakalye with their presence before they resumed their preparations for the pre-pageant night on Friday, April 26.
The festivities in Pasay City will culminate with the float parade, which will start at the Quirino Grandstand, and the street dance competition between festival contingents on Saturday, April 27.
Throughout the Aliwan Fiesta, stalls selling items from different regions all over the Philippines also fill the V. Sotto Street in Pasay City.
