Pampanga is now under a state of calamity amid the bird flu outbreak which already killed thousands of birds, fowls in the said province.
In line with this, the local government will be implementing a strict one kilometer quarantine radius in the Brgy. of San Carlos, San Luis where a poultry farm was confirmed positive of the H5 virus.
Police and the Department of Agriculture have already dispatched checkpoints in the 12 towns of Pampanga to make sure that no poultry products will be coming in and out of the said area.
Pampanga Gov. Lila Pineda said that this bird flu outbreak will cost their poultry sector an estimate of Php2 billion.
Pineda added that Pampanga is the main supplier of poultry products in Metro Manila and Central Luzon.
According to DA Sec. Manny Pinol, he already ordered rigid watch on poultry products in Luzon to avoid the outbreak from spreading in other areas.
