Malacanang is no longer surprise with the result of the report of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front regarding the Mamasapano encounter where they defended their members for brutally killing 44 members of the PNP-SAF.
PCOO Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said that the Justice Department is already doing its own investigation and will be in-charge of any legal means against the MILF.
Also, the Palace handed over to the International Monitoring Team as arbiter in responding on the accusation of the MILF that the PNP-SAF were first to violate the existing ceasefire agreement.
“The Department of Justice has initiated an investigation and will take appropriate legal action. We also note that the MILF report alludes to certain ceasefire violations which may be handled by the third party arbiter, the international monitoring team (IMT).”
Coloma is hoping that the conflicting results of investigation on the Mamasapano tragedy will pave the way in knowing what really happened and provide justice not just to the Fallen 44 but also for those civilians and MILF members who died as well.
“This report, as well as those of the PNP Board of Inquiry and the Senate, provide different views and perspectives on the incident that would hopefully contribute to the process of determining responsibility and accountability, such that the ends of justice may be served.”
Meanwhile, the Palace is happy that the MILF was able to submit to the Senate the result of their Special Investigative Commission on the Mamasapano incident.
