Malacanang will not pre-empt the investigation the Department of Transportation and Communications is currently conducting on the MRT 3 mishap in EDSA-Taft station yesterday afternoon.

President Benigno Aquino III already tasked DOTC Sec. Emilio Abaya Jr. to conduct and thorough investigation on the said accident so that this will not happen again in the future.

This was the answer of PCOO Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. when asked on who is responsible and liable for the said accident where in 30 people have been injured.

Coloma insisted that Malacanang will not fire Abaya because Pnoy continues to trust him, in spite of the accident.

The President has tasked the head of the DOTC to make sure of the safety of the passengers of the MRT.

In a regular press briefing in the Palace, Coloma said that the President wants each passenger’s life will be far from danger whenever they’re using the MRT3, therefore it is imperative for latter’s management to have proper maintenance with their trains.

Aside from this, the management of the MRT should follow the safety procedures in case of emergency.
