PAGASA warns of possible massive flooding due to typhoon ‘Karen’



PAGASA is concerned that the typhoon ‘Karen’ could bring in massive floods in the country as it makes its landfall this Sunday.

According to PAGASA, regions including Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas may expect flooding due to heavy rains.

Tropical Cyclonse warning signal number 2 is raised in Catanduanes, Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte.

Signal number 1 in Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate including Burias and Ticao Islands, Northern Samar, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon including Polilo Island, Marinduque, Aurora, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Pampanga, and even Metro Manila.

According to PAGASA, typhoon ‘Karen’ could intensify after its landfall on Sunday morning in Quezon or Aurora province, while it is expected to make its exit by Monday.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said that more than two million families will be affected by the typhoon.
