The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has suspended the outdoor training of national athletes on Monday, Jan. 13, due to the ashfall caused by the eruption of Taal volcano in Batangas.
“All national team members are advised that training outdoors is prohibited at the moment in light of the ashfall due to Mt. Taal’s eruption. Keep safe,” PSC said in an advisory.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has raised Alert Level 4 over Taal Volcano, which has entered a period of intense unrest on Sunday, Jan. 12.
The Department of Health has advised the public to remain indoors and minimize outdoor activities due to the ashfall from Taal Volcano.
DOH warned that exposure to volcanic ash and gases can cause nose and throat irritation, coughing, bronchitis-like illness, discomfort while breathing, eye irritation, and minor skin problems.
The Health department also told the public to use and N95 mask amd wear protective clothing, including googles, if they need to venture outside their homes.
