Opposition Senators are now challenging the Duterte administration to “walk the talk”, after his statement at the United Nations General Assembly.

This was the reaction of Senators Francis Pangilinan and Risa Hontiveros after President Duterte’s strong message, insisting the Philippines’ The Hague victory over China on the issue of the West Philippine Sea.

Hontiveros said that she was elated upon hearing the Philippine president expressed his position in front of the international community.

However, this shouldn’t stop there, we need a concrete plan and directive on how we can implement and protect our country’s territories.

These include operations against pouching and stealing of marine resources within the exclusive economic zone.

Pangilina meanwhile said that he welcomes the President’s move to demand for the international community to recognize the Philippines’ victory on the arbitrary case.

Pangilinan added that the next move for the President should be to open the issue of the West Philippine Sea at the UN and ask support from its allied nations in the Association of South East Asian Nations.
