Chairman of the Blue Ribbon Committee Senator Richard Gordon and Senator Tito Sotto III agree that there isn’t enough evidence to prove that Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte is affiliated with the Php 6.4 billion worth of smuggled shabu from China.
Sen. Gordon said thay there is no need to request the presence of Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte at the next hearing because ‘hearsay’ is not enough to file such huge accusations.
“Hearsay eh. Pinalinaw ko yun tanong, alam mo ba yan o sabi-sabi daw? Eh sabi-sabi, papaano naman yun? That’s unfair,” Gordon said.
Meanwhile, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV of the opposition, accused the presidential son of being in cahoots with Kenneth Dong, the alleged middleman of the smuggled shipment. The Senator showed several photos to the panel of Paolo and his brother Sebastian together with Kenneth.
But Dong clarified that he is only an acquaintance of the vice mayor.
Broker Mark Taguba II later on admitted that he had no personal knowledge that Paolo was indeed behind the “Davao Group” in the Customs.
