The NLEX Road Warriors relied on unheralded Sean Anthony and rookie Simon Enciso to post a shock 107-101 victory over the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters in the 2015-2016 Philippine Basketbal Association Philippine Cup, Friday, Nov. 20 at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Road Warriors erased a huge 17-point deficit as they drew outstanding games from Anthony and Simon Enciso to register their first-ever victory over the Tropang Texters since taking over the Air21 franchise last year.
Witt the victory the Road Warriors tied their victims with a 3-2 win-loss card.
“It was a test of character for us. We stole one game from Talk ‘N Text,” said Road Warriors coach Boyet Fernandez.
Anthony poured in a career-high 32 points on 11-of-17 shooting. He also had 12 boards, two assists, and one steal in 35 minutes off the bench. Enciso contributed 19 markers including three three-pointers.
Ageless veteran Asi Taulava, all of 42 years old, had 18 points and 18 boards. Jonas Villanueva added 10 points which he scored all in the fourth period.
The Road Warriors had to overcome a fat 54-71 deficit in the third quarter.
For Talk N Text Troy Rosario flashed his outside game, burying four triples on the way to finishing with a team-high 20 points. Jayson Castro was held to 15 points after missing all his eight treys. This was a far cry from his 33-point effort against the Star Hotshots last week.
