Senate President Vicente Sotto III met up with the newly-elected and some of the incumbent senators for a dinner gathering organized by Senator Manny Pacquiao at his home in Makati on the night of Wednesday, June 5.

In a video, Sotto can be seen with most of the newly-elected Senators of the May 2019 race like former SAP Christopher Go, former Presidential Adviser for Political Affairs Francis Tolentino, former Philippine National Police Chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, former Senator Bong Revilla, Jr., former Senator Lito Lapid, and outgoing Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos, as well as Senators Sonny Angara and Nancy Binay.

Other incumbent senators present in the meeting were Miguel Zubiri, Ralph Recto, Joel Villanueva, outgoing Senator Gregorio Honasan, and Sherwin Gatchalian. Also, Sen. Grace Poe came later that evening.

However, among those who were not seen in the dinner gathering are reelectionist senators Cynthia Villar, Pia Cayetano, and outgoing senator JV Ejercito.

The gathering of the senators eased the on-going rumors of tension within the upper chamber over the issue of committee chairmanships. It also came after Villar allegedly berated Pacquiao during a Senate session after the latter gathered signatures for a Senate resolution expressing support for another term for Sotto as Senate President.
