Six fire incidents were recorded in the region of Metro Manila as Filipinos greeted the New Year with loud noises and bright fireworks.
In Barangay Caniogan, Pasig City one casualty was reported after a fire reached the fourth alarm just an hour before the clock hit midnight.
Meanwhile, a flame incident was quickly raised into the second alarm in Barangay Bagbag, Novaliches in Quezon City just a few minutes after people shot their last firecracker.
Another flame in Barangay 19 Tondo, Manila which reached the third alarm was quickly extinguished by members of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). Firefighters, later on, quickly responded to another fire incident in Barangay 74, Caloocan City.
In Alvarado St. Binondo in Manila firefighters were faced with a difficult task after a commercial building was quickly swallowed by flames.
The BFP also rushed to Guadalupe Viejo in Makati after residents reported yet another flame incident.
