The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operation Center has raised the “blue alert” as it continues to monitor the expected landfall of typhoon Karen.
Civil Defense Deputy Administrator Asec. Kristoffer Purisima said that they have alerted regional and local disaster risk reduction and management offices on the expected effects of the said typhoon.
Residents in low-lying areas have also been warned to be cautious on possible landslides and flashfloods.
Based on the report of PAGASA, the low pressure area they are monitoring in Catarman, Northern Samar will become a full-blown typhoon within 24 hours.
Signal number 1 may be raised in the provinces of Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay and Sorsogon.
On Sunday, the typhoon is expected to be near the area of Polilio Island-Quezon and Aurora province.
