NCAA: Lions routs Lyceum sans Perez in Game 1 of NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Finals

San Beda Red Lions dominated the Lyceum Pirates, 73-60, during the Game One of the Best – of – Three Finals Series of the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball tournament.

During the game at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, JV Mocon registered 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Robert Bolick added 12 points for the Red Lions that is now a step closer to defending their crown and winning their 22nd championship.

Mike Nzeusseu finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Pirates that trailed behind by 25 points at most without their ace CJ Perez, who got suspended by the National Collegiate Athletic Association for violation of league rules.

The Red Lions immediately grabbed a 10 – point lead during the end of the first quarter, 19 – 9, and the point gap went up to 21 points, 43-22, before the start of the second half.

The Pirates will be joined by Perez, the reigning most valuable player, when they once again face the Red Lions on Monday, Nov. 12, in a must-win Game – 2.
