Relieved Philippine National Police-Special Action Force Chief Dir. Getulio Napenas continues to insist that the PNP-SAF operation in Mamasapano, Maguindanao was a success.
“People are forgetting that our mission was a success because we got our principal target, though at a huge cost on our part,” said Napenas in a tv interview.
During “Oplan Exodus” the SAF members were able to kill Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli Bin Hir amid the death of 44 of their comrades.
However, their other two targets, Amin Baco and bomb expert Abdul Basit Usman managed to escape.
According to Napenas, his team was expecting words of praises and congratulatory remarks but instead, they’re now being blamed for the fate of the Fallen 44.
The former PNP-SAF Chief claims responsibility for what he calls, lapses in his judgement during the said operation but expects that high-ranking officials, who planned the whole operation with him, will also do the same. (with DZRH Eva Ajero)
