Nadine Lustre was named as ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ of the prestigious International award giving body Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA).
In their official website, international critics chose Lustre’s portrayal as “Maya” in her 2019 film “Ulan” directed by Irene Villamor as the best among the regional category. The awarding ceremony was held at Cannes, France on Wednesday.
Nadine was also among the nominees for Grand Awards and has a chance to be named as “Goddess of Creativity.”
Aside from the actress, her leading man in the said film, Carlo Aquino also brought home the ‘Best Actor in a Leading Role’ under the same category. The film also clinched several awards such as Best Direction (Fiction); Best Cinematography; Best Feature Film; Best Original Screenplay; and Best Sound.
Indeed, 2019 is a good year for the 25-year-old actress as she earlier won best actress awards from the Gawad Urian, Young Critics Circle (YCC) and FAMAS for the film “Never Not Love You.”
On the other hand, “Ulan” has been picked as one of the films to be shown at the 2019 San Diego Asian Film Festival.
“Ulan” is a 2019 romantic drama film, starred by Lustre and Aquino, that tells the story of a young woman named Maya, who grew up alternately fascinated and fearful of the rain, stalked by storms and the “tikbalang” (the half-horse, half-human creature).
