Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage Services (MWSS) said that the Php 534 million fine imposed on Manila Water Company Inc. might get doubled.
MWSS Chief Regulator Patrick Ty explained that the fine covers only the first tranche of water interruptions in March, which lasted for 15 days
Ty warns Manila Water that they will be slapped with another Php 534 million fine if they will fail to resume normal 24/7 operations by August or September.
The MWSS official earlier announced that all customers of Manila Water will receive a rebate equivalent to 10 cubic meters, or worth Php 153.93, while severely affected consumers will have an additional Php 2,197.94 rebate.
The rebates will be deducted from the billing statements of customers starting in June.
