The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) penalized Maynilad Water Services Inc. for the water service interruptions that hit portions of Las Pinas City in May.
Based on the decision of the MWSS board of trustees dated Friday, June 28, Maynilad has to implement a Php 2,500 rebate to all their consumers affected by the water service interruptions in Brgy. Captain Albert Aguilar, Las Pinas City.
The rebate will be deducted from the succeeding water bill or statements of affected consumers until fully expended.
“The MWSS RO (Regulatory Office) will facilitate the implementation of the rebate to all affected customers as soon as possible and would like to assure the public that its doing everything in its power to protect their interest,” the decision read
MWSS said that Maynilad did not comply with their service obligations under the concession agreement since they failed to provide 24/7 water services to their customers in the area.
Based on the evidence gathered by the MWSS RO, Maynilad customers in Brgy. Captain Albert Aguilar were deprived of water service with a minimum pressure of seven psi for a period of more than 15 days, which severely affected the public health or welfare.
