Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) suspended the number coding for provincial buses from southern Luzon on Wednesday as they expect a bulk of commuters en route for Manila after the holiday break.

MMDA Acting Chairman Thomas Orbos said that the lifting of the number coding scheme was decided after a meeting with the officials of the Inter Agency Council on Traffic (I-ACT).

The decision aims to help thousands of passengers from southern Luzon after some trips to Manila are already fully-booked.

It can be recalled that many passengers were stranded in terminals last holiday season due to typhoon Nina that hammered southern Luzon.
