Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago hammered the proposed 2015 national budget.
During the feisty Senator’s privilege speech, Santiago insisted that lawmakers get to keep their pork barrel in the said proposed budget including the 500 Billion peso-Presidential lump sum.
Santiago added that the total lump sum will amount to 37.3 Billion pesos and this only benefit five government agencies.
The said agencies include Departments’ of Health, Social Welfare, Labor, Public Works and Commission on Higher Education.
Santiago questioned the definition of savings in the 2015 budget because the funds can be moved anytime, not like the process where funds can only be used at the end of the year. (with DZRH Milky Rigonan)
