MERALCO implements rotating brownouts after NGCP issues red alert

The Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) on Wednesday, April 10, implemented a manual load dropping or rotational brownout due to insufficient operating reserve in Bulacan, Metro Manila, Cavite and Laguna.

Per the advisory of MERALCO, areas affected by the brownouts, that could last for an hour, include:

  • Malolos City, Bulacan
  • Bustos, Bulacan
  • Plaridel, Bulacan
  • Pulilan, Bulacan
  • Malabon City, Metro Manila
  • Navotas City, Metro Manila
  • Caloocan City, Metro Manila
  • Valenzuela City, Metro Manila
  • Las Piñas City, Metro Manila
  • Alfonso, Cavite
  • Mendez- Nuñez, Cavite
  • Tagaytay City, Cavite
  • General Emilio Aguinaldo, Cavite
  • Amadeo, Cavite
  • Imus City, Cavite
  • Bacoor City, Cavite
  • Noveleta, Cavite
  • Kawit, Cavite

MERALCO made the announcement after the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) issued a red alert notice, which meant an insufficient power supply, in the power grid of Luzon.

As of 4:46 PM, the electricity distributor said that power supply has been restored.
