Senator-elect Ma. Imelda ‘Imee’ Marcos jested that she will ask Igorots to bless her soon-to-be office in the Senate
Marcos made the said comment after learning that her office belongs to outgoing Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, following a raffle on Tuesday, June 25, organized by the Senate Secretariat.
“Magpapatawag ako ng mga Igorot namin dahil kailangan basbasan ang office ko dahil kay Sen Trillanes ata ang nabunot, yun na lang natira, nahuli yata ang tao ko, sabi bunutan eh,” Marcos told reporters.
Trillanes expressed his support for the religious ritual planned by Marcos if it will help in fulfilling her mandate as senator. However, the graduating lawmaker has a different response if the ceremony only seeks to insinuate that he is a bad person.
“If the religious ritual is meant to help her fulfill her mandate as a newly elected Senator, then that’s a good thing. But if she’s saying it to insinuate na masama akong tao, then sobrang ka ipokritohan naman yun even for a Marcos,” Trillanes said in a statement.
Meanwhile, incoming senators Francis Tolentino and Christopher ‘Bong Go’ will receive the offices of outgoing senators JV Ejercito and Gregorio Honasan, respectively.
Neophyte senator Ronald Dela Rosa got the office of former Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, which the latter vacated after being appointed as Foreign Affairs secretary.
