Manila Water deflects blame on ongoing water crisis

Manila Water Company

Water concessionaire Manila Water Company denied responsibility on water crisis being experienced in Metro Manila.

Manila Water Technical spokesperson Kri Guevarra reiterated on Tuesday, June 24, that they implemented a series of rotational water service interruptions due to the limited supply of water that they get from Angat Dam.

Guevarra further mentioned that the government is responsible for developing additional sources of water and not the concessionaires, which are only in charge of treatment and distribution of water.

The Manila Water official added that they already predicted a shortage in water supply in their 2012 business plan, which they submitted to the government. She said that they also proposed short-term and mid-term solutions but the government still needs to approve them before being implemented.

Guevarra promised that Manila Water will support the projects of the government for new water sources.
