MalacaƱang is confident that the different versions of the proposed 2018 National Budget in the Senate, and the House of Representatives will not cause a deadlock.

According to Presidential Communications and Operations Office Sec. Martin Andanar, they hope that the government will have an enacted budget even with the diverging positions of the two Houses of Congress.

The Senate has previously decided to reduce the Php 50 billion fund that the Lower House allocated to the Department of Public Works and Highways for the Right of Way Acquisitions.

The Upper House also decreased the Php 900 million budget for the anti-drug campaign of the Philippine National Police, and the Php 50 million for the drug program of the Department of Interior and Local Government.

The Senate placed the deducted budget to housing programs for the PNP and other sectors.

Andanar said that the Palace believes that amendments on the 2018 General Appropriations Act will be fixed on the Bicameral Conference Committee.
