Malacanang remains mum on proposed postponement of barangay, SK elections

Malacanang refused to comment regarding Congress’ suggestion to postpone the elections for Barangay and SK officials.

Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. made the said statement after some lawmakers continue to push for the deferment of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

According to Coloma, the Palace needs to understand first the lawmakers’ reason why they need to postpone the synchronized elections before commenting on the said matter.

Meanwhile, the Senators are divided regarding the said proposal. Commission on Elections Chairman Andres Bautista insisted that they will ask Congress to postpone the barangay and SK elections to avoid election fatigue, and also time to prepare for the money that they will be spending for it.
