A magnitude 5.8 earthquake jolted the province of Surigao del Sur on Friday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) stated.

In an advisory, the tremor, recorded around 2:06 PM, was located 34 kilometers east of Hinatuan with a depth of 45 kilometers.

PHIVOLCS said that the tectonic quake was recorded at Intensity III in the area of Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.

Meanwhile, Intensity II was felt in Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental.

Intensity I, on the other hand, was felt in the areas of Surigao City, Cagayan de Oro City, Kidapawan City; Tupi, South Cotabato; Malungon and Alabel in Sarangani, PHIVOLCS noted.
