Magnitude 4.2 quake hits Surigao Del Sur same day as nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill

Hours before the nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill on June 21, Bislig City, Surigao Del Sur was hit by a Magnitude 4.2 earthquake.

Based on the data of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the quake happened six kilometers south-east of the city at 11:25AM.

There has been no reported injuries or damages due to the earthquake that is tectonic in origin and has a depth of 112 kilometers.

Meanwhile, various government offices, agencies, and schools participated in the the nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill that started at 2:00PM.

The activity aimed to promote earthquake awareness and preparedness.
